Board Certified

Ron W. Walton is board certified in the area of Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. To be board certified in the program sponsored by the Supreme Court of Texas, Attorneys are required to demonstrate special competence by passing rigorous requirements pertaining to character, legal knowledge and experience. Attorneys must also receive the approval of judges and their peers. Less than three percent of attorneys in Texas are certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the area of personal injury trial law.

State Bar College of Texas

Ron Walton is a member of the State Bar College of Texas. The purpose of this organization is to recognize lawyers who maintain and enhance their professional skills and the quality of their service to the public by significant voluntary participation in continuing legal education.

Personal

Ron W. Walton is Rocky' s younger brother by two years. He also grew up in Cleburne and far south Fort Worth, attending Everman High School. He volunteered for the US Marine Corp in 1968 and was on active duty for four years, serving in Viet Nam. Contrary to prior claims or rumors, the opportunity to see the Bob Hope USO Christmas show live was not the ONLY reason he went, but it was a great show.

After his military service, Ron worked in the electronics field as a production technician, service and repair technician, engineering technician and ultimately a research technician. He also attended Tarrant County College, UTA, and eventually East Texas State University, where he earned his B.S. in Industrial Technology in 1988. While at General Dynamics [now Lockheed-Martin], he worked as supervisor in the Robotics Lab and created milling machine programs to form aircraft parts. However, Ron was never completely satisfied by any of the career fields in which he had been engaged. When Ron was on a lay-off, Rocky persuaded him to become an attorney. Rocky needed the help and assured Ron that he would be a very good attorney if he applied himself. Ron decided to become an attorney since Rocky seemed to be having so much fun and had told Ron that it was very satisfying on many levels.

Ron then attended Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law and was admitted to the Texas State Bar in May of 1995. He joined his brother's firm, where he has been practicing law ever since. Under Rocky's tutelage, Ron received intensive training in all areas of personal injury trial law. As he was coached and supervised, Ron assisted in personal injury trials and eventually acted as lead attorney in personal injury trials and other matters.

After meeting the basic qualifications in an amazingly short time, Ron sat for the certification exam and became Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law only 5 years and 8 months after becoming an attorney. It is rare to have this accomplishment in such a short time, considering that an active practice of 5 years is a basic requirement, in addition to substantial trial experience, plus judge and peer reviews. In fact, fewer than 3% of Texas attorneys have that certification. Since certification, Ron is continuing to act as either second chair or as lead counsel in trials of the firm and in preparing cases to be tried or settled.

Ron is a very happy family man with four daughters, four granddaughters, two sons-in-law, and one grandson. He expects to re-marry soon and gain a loving wife, a step son, a daughter-in-law and a mother-in-law. Amazingly, all of these individuals reside in or near Tarrant County.

Other than practicing law, Ron's hobbies include traveling, frequent camping, family activities, surfing the internet, and playing Texas Hold-Em Poker.
